Hospital CIMA San Jose is located in San José, Costa Rica and has medical and surgical patient units, an intensive care unit, and a neonatal intensive care unit. In 1999, the President of Costa Rica, Dr. Miguel Angel Rodríguez, inaugurated Hospital CIMA San Jose before it began operations at the end of the first quarter of 2000. This three-story hospital was constructed with two main levels. The first level includes a large outpatient medical department with a variety of advanced diagnostic and treatment services and modalities, including chemotherapy and hemodialysis; a radiology department with multiple current modalities and space for future expansion; an emergency department complete with a trauma room, treatment stations, private exam and consultation rooms; and, a fully equipped modern surgery department and recovery facility.

The patient rooms and labor and delivery department are located on the second level. Most patient rooms are private and seven have adjoining suites. The labor and delivery department is the most modern in Central America; it provides full fetal and maternity monitoring services and is supported by a neonatal and intensive care unit in addition to the well baby nursery.

Adjacent to the hospital is a seven-story medical office building. The ground level of this building houses the hospital's physical therapy facilities, a plastic surgery practice, a spa, and several retail services. The remaining six levels house private physician offices. Its exterior design uses traditional construction materials, colors, and elements reflective of Spanish-colonial architecture, with a blending of high-technology details. CIMA San José’s construction conveys a sense of tradition, trust and stability while also showcasing the high level of medical technology used throughout the entire complex.
